Opening your first model
Open a file
Drag a file or a folder onto the window, or press ⌘O. Solidly opens .gltf, .glb, .fbx, .obj, .stl, .ply, .usd, .usda, .usdc, and .usdz files, and scans a dropped folder for models inside it. See Opening files and folders.
Move the camera
The model is framed automatically when it loads. Drag to orbit, hold ⌥ and drag to pan, scroll to zoom, and press Return to return to the opening framing. See Viewport navigation.
Select something
Double-click a surface to select the node that draws it. The selection is outlined in the viewport, the matching row is revealed in the sidebar, and the inspector switches to its Node tab. Press Esc to clear the selection.
Read what the file contains
The inspector on the right describes the file through five tabs: Info, Node, Materials, Resources, and Render. The Solidly window describes what each one covers.
Move between the sidebar's modes
The sidebar lists every open file in Models mode and the scene graph of the selected model in Hierarchy mode. Press Tab to switch between them, and Esc to return to Models.
Save, or leave the file alone
Solidly does not write to a file until asked. File ▸ Save (⌘S) overwrites the original and File ▸ Save As… (⇧⌘S) writes a copy. See Saving and exporting.
