The Node tab

The Node tab describes whatever is selected: a scene node in glTF or FBX, a geometry partition in OBJ, a prim in USD, or a single instanced copy. Selecting anything in the viewport or the hierarchy brings this tab forward.

The panel opens with a title carrying the item's icon and name. Under the title, an ancestry strip lists the chain of parents.

Cards for a scene node

Cards for a USD prim

A USD prim adds a badge naming its type and a set of cards describing the scene description behind it, covering geometry, materials and shaders, instancing, composition arcs, variant sets, and properties. Which cards appear depends on what the prim is. See Prims.

Cards for a USD layer

Selecting a row in the sidebar's Layers mode puts the Node tab into a different presentation, describing the selected file rather than a prim. See Layers.

Formats without a node

STL and PLY store one flat surface and no scene graph.
